Abstract:

Objective: To compare the effect of three health education and nutritionstrategies on adherence to the non-pharmacological treatment of systemic arterial hypertension (SAH), through anthropometric, biochemical, clinical and dietetic parameters.
Methods: It is a longitudinal intervention study,a community test type, comparative, of quantitative approach. The sample was made up of 212 individuals diagnosed with SAH, who met the inclusion/exclusion criteria. Participants were allocated into three groups, in order to evaluate different methods of intervention, carried out monthly, for twelve months .For the analyses were performed the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallistests.
Results: Educational interventions in Group 1 and 2 provided the best results about adherence to the non-pharmacological treatment of SAH. In comparative analysis of different groups, the reduction of glucose showed statistical significant difference, with the Group 2 presenting better evolution.
Conclusions: The Group 1 and 2 had better results on adherence to the non-pharmacological treatment of SAH. In practice of health services there is the challenge to promote a health education able to intervene on the issue of adherence to the treatment of SAH.
