Abstract:
The objective was to compare changes in risk and protective behaviors for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), reported morbidity and preventive cancer tests before and at the end of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. The study analyzes historical seriesthe Surveillance of Risk and Protective Factors for Chronic Diseases by Telephone Survey (VIGITEL) system for the years 2006 and 2021. Trends were analyzed using linear regression and Student\'s t test was used to calculate differences between years. There was a reduction reduction in the prevalence of PA in free time and PA while commuting; increased prevalence of adults with insufficient PA practice, sedentary behavior and physical inactivity. There was also a worsening in indicators of overweight, obesity and diabetes during the pandemic.Hypertension was stable in the period2009 to 2019 and increased in the pandemic years. There was a reduction in the coverage of preventive mammography and cervical cytology exams, differingthe previous trend. In conclusion, the findings point to the worsening of NCD indicators. Therefore, health promotion actions become a priority in this context.
