Abstract:

Connectedness to nature can improves well-being and the adoption of sustainable food practices. Health professionals would be key agents in this interface, promoting environmental health. This cross-sectional study with 146 primary health care professionals evaluated the association with connectedness and the reasons for food choices that are considered important for human and environmental health. Connectedness to Nature Scale (ECN) was applied, with 14 items that together measure how much the person feels integrated to the environment, and scores ranging14 to 70 points; and the Food Choice Questionnaire, with 36 items distributed in nine factors, among them \"Health\", \"Natural Content\" and \"Ethical Concern\". The average score in ECN was 53.8 (± 9). \"Sensory Appeal\" and \"Price\" were the most scored factors; \"Ethical Concern\" took the last position. A significant positive association of ECN was found with scores on \"Health\" factors (p = 0.031), \"Natural Content\" (p = 0.001) and \"Ethical Concern\" (p
