Abstract:

Introduction: End stage renal disease (ESRD) is an important public health problem, especially in developing countries, considering the high economic resources needed to mantain patients in the different programs of Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) . Aim. To analyze the differences and inequalities that involve access to RRT in the BRICS countries. Methods. Applied - descriptive - cross-sectional - quantitative and qualitative study, with documentary analysis and literature review. Some source of data were national dialysis and transplants census data and scientific publications involving access to RRT in BRICS countries. Results. There is inequitiy in acess to RRT in all BRICS countries, as well as the absence of national dialysis and transplant census (India), absence of effective laws that inhibit traffic of organs (India and South Africa) and use of donor deceased prisoners to renal transplant (China) Discuss. The construction of mechanisms that promote sharing of benefits and solidarity in the field of international cooperation in the area of renal health involves the recognition of bioethical issues related to access to TRS in BRICS countries.
