Abstract:

The dispensation of pharmaceuticals is an activity that can not be restricted only to the delivery of medications. The pharmacist must ensure various conditions so that the patient uses the medication in the best possible manner. As it is a professional activity and has been established for pharmaceutical care, dispensation should also have a philosophy of practice, a process of care, and a system for managing the practice. This paper proposes a new definition of dispensation and describes its central elements, considering the reality of established pharmacists, so that it can be effectively implemented.
