Abstract:

The factors associated with mental health-related suffering on hospitalization were in the Psychosocial Care Centers (PCC) in the city of São Paulo referred to Primary Care (APS) were evaluated. Evaluation survey of 297 adults in 24 PCC. A Poisson Regression employing a robust variance was performed, startingthe prevalence ratio (PR) and the respective confidence margin of 95%. Higher prevalence of inpatients during PCC treatment was observed in: the patient access to a private health-care service provider; the waiting time longer than seven days between the diagnostic and the first consultation with a non-physician health care professional; the lack of orientation regarding the length of medication treatment; the lack of prescription of psychiatric drugs in the PHC; and the occurrence of previous mental health hospitalization. The association highlight the need to increase the access of socially vulnerable population to the services. Moreover, this work also highlights the need for restructuring the services towards offering more inclusive and articulated practices focusing on the patient’s singularity.
