Abstract:

We analyzed the evolution of homicide rates categories felony, larceny, bodily harm followed by death, homicide self resistance, policeman killed, missing persons and dead against in the state and in the city of Rio de Janeiro and the Integrated Area Public Security 16 (AISP 16). Therefore, ecological study was conducted from 2002 to 2013, using data from the Public Security Institute. To analyze the temporal evolution and trend of murder charges, resisting arrest rates and missing persons rates, Joinpoint regression was performed, considering how dependent variable and those fees as an independent variable the calendar year. For the other categories analyzed only the evolution of exchange rates in the calculation of the relative change in rates at the beginning and end of the period. There were rates fall in all categories, except for missing persons. The murder rate showed a significant downward trend in the three locations. The results contributed to describe the pattern of violence in three locations from the dialogue between the social sciences, public health and safety that allowed contemplate subjective and objective aspects linked to the study findings.
