Abstract:

The importance of the immunization among the actions recommended in the prenatal arises from the possibility of protecting the mother and the fetus against certain harmful diseases known to both. The aim of this study was to evaluate the immunization coverage of mothers whose deliveries occurred in the first half of 2012 in Botucatu / SP and associated factors. Cross-sectional study, data collection was performed in the two county hospitals. We included 1318 mothers (90.3%) of total births during the study period. The data for the characterization of participants and their vaccination status (Adult combined – dT/diphtheria and tetanus and against hepatitis B) were obtained from the prenatal card, hospital records or interview with them. For analysis of associated factors we used Chi-square test, considering a confidence interval of 95% critical p <0.05. Most of the study participants was 20 years old or more (84.4%), up to seven years of school approval (69.0%), was accompanied in prenatal care (99.2%) performing seven or more consultations (88.9%). Had history of miscarriage and infant death 17.7% and 2.4% of postpartum women, respectively. Vaccination coverage was 68.4%. There was no association between sociodemographic, obstetric and relating to prenatal care and vaccination pregnant.
