Abstract:

Interprofessional collaboration has been identified as a resource for facing model of care and workforce problems. It is related to comprehensive care, participative practices and reciprocal relationships among team members. The aim was to capture the perception about the shared work and interprofessional collaboration among primary health care workers. In-depth interviews were performed with professionals from the Family Health Strategy and Support Center for Family Health in São Paulo city. The results highlighted the empirical categories: ‘professional interaction‘ and ‘production goals‘. The ways of interaction, the role of specialized matrix support and the perspective in which production goals are perceived by the professionals pointed to tensions between the traditional professional logic and the collaboration logic; and between a model based on specialized procedures and a collaborative-based centered on health needs of families and community. The sharing of responsibilities and practices; changes in the logic of patient reference to specialized services and inadequate organizational arrangements remain as important challenges for inclusion of interprofissional collaboration as a component of work management for the development of new care practices.
