Abstract:

This paper presents an interdisciplinary view of the rational use of medicine from a metapsychological perspective. The need to rescue the pharmacist performance and the relationship with his patient, through the Pharmaceutical Care, requires the intervention of new knowledge that can provide a revitalization of this human relationship. In this sense, through a compilation of passages from the works of Freud, some of the most important metapsychological concepts were presented: mental apparatus, suspended attention and compromise formations. These concepts were then presented as theoretical tools useful for qualitative analysis in pharmaceutical care, especially in terms of participant observation. Thus, the goal was to provide new tools to the pharmacist in terms of listening and ensconcing, which can improve professional routine regarding the relationship with his patients, as well as in gathering and interpretation of qualitative data concerning human matters involving Pharmaceutical Care.
