Abstract:

This article aimed to estimate the prevalence of dyslipidemia and its association and adequacy of the intake of saturated, monounsaturated, trans, omega-3 and carbohydrate fats in adultsViçosa-MG. It is a cross-sectional study with 884 adults aged between 20 and 59 years. Sociodemographic, food consumption, anthropometric and biochemical data were collectedthe population. Associations between variables were verified using the chi-square test. There was a high prevalence of dyslipidemia in the population (64.25%), with at least one of the serum lipids altered. There was a predominance of inadequacy in the intake of saturated, trans, monounsaturated and carbohydrate fats. It is noteworthy that the intake of omega-3 was adequate for most individuals. Eutrophic adults had a higher prevalence of excessive intake of saturated and trans fats. It was observed that 38.7% of individuals with reduced HDL-c had an intake above the recommended saturated fat. Most individuals with triglycerides and high TG / HDL-c ratio had unsatisfactory intake of monounsaturated fat. It is necessary to evaluate other factors that may influence the eating pattern.
