Abstract:

Accidents and violence are public health problems that demand further care in the recovery and rehabilitation process. The aim is to analyze the implementation of health care in recovery and rehabilitation in the country considering the assistance offered to people in situations of violence and accidents. This type of care corresponds to the specific guideline of the National Policy on Morbidity and Mortality due to Accidents and Violence. A descriptive quantitative study was carried out nationwide, through the analysis of data collected through the electronic platform to access a questionnaire sent to the municipal health secretaries of the 5,570 Brazilian municipalities (113 anwers). There were advances: regulations, decentralization of care in rehabilitation/recovery, existence of services and variability of professionals in most of the participating cities. Historical gaps were found, such as underfunding of the sector, weaknesses in infrastructure and human resources, problems regarding the provision of orthoses and prostheses, and unequal distribution of services in the regions of the country. Although the Recovery/Rehabilitation scenario in Brazil victims of accidents and violence has improved in recent years, it is still faroffering a universal, comprehensive and equitable service.
