Abstract:

The aim of this research was to identify the dimensions of vulnerability of women who have sex with women associated with sexually transmitted infections. It was a cross-sectional study with 150 women2015 to 2017. A structured questionnaire was applied and a gynecological examination was performed to diagnose Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis and papillomavirus. Blood tests were carried out to identify HIV, Hepatitis B and Syphilis. The outcome was sexual infection and the independent variables comprised the vulnerability referential in the individual, social and programmatic dimensions. Data analyses were performed through logistic regression. The results showed high prevalence of infections (47.3%) and just variables related to individual vulnerability associated with the outcome. The chance of infection was fourfold higher in women who had infections (p=0,045). The fact of never having had serologic test increased in almost threefold the chance of having sexually transmitted infections (p=0,027). And also the fact of having sexual intercourse with man in the last 12 month increased in approximately ninefold the risk of such outcome (p=0,001). The conclusion is that these women are vulnerable to sexually transmitted infections because of their individual vulnerability.
