0032/2025 - Travestis e mulheres transexuais em situação de prisão: a necropolÃtica trans em narrativas atrás das grades Travestis and transgender women in prison: trans necropolitics in narratives behind bars
pessoas transgênero; prisões; travestilidade; performatividade de gênero; expressão de gênero.
Abstract:
The study was developed with the objective of revealing lives, experiences and situations in the production of transfeminine bodies among travestis and transsexual women inmates, in the metropolitan region of the state of Rio de Janeiro. This is a study of life narratives with the intention of understanding the process of managing these gender identities before and throughout their imprisonment. The interviews were conducted between June and December 2021, in the Rio de Janeiro prison unit, a reference for this population, with 20 participants. A semi-structured script was used containing triggering questions about the production of their bodies before and during prison. All narratives were recorded and transcribed, later analyzed into thematic categories. The results revealed a trans necropolitical process marked by separationthe primary family, prostitution as the main source of income, and marginalization. The statements about imprisonment revealed a scenario full of violations of basic rights, especially the difficulty in managing their transfeminine bodies. For many of the interviewees, prison is a cyclical process, promoting an increasingly greater distanceaccess to citizenship and their existence.
