Resumo:A existência de lixões inativos aumenta consideravelmente o assim denominado "passivo ambiental"; tanto que a destinação final dos resíduos sólidos urbanos ocupa lugar primordial na pauta das questões ambientais das sociedades (Capelli1, 2002). No Estado de Santa Catarina, pode-se afirmar que, atualmente, é formalmente desconhecido o estado real em que se encontram os "depósitos de destinação final" ou, mais simplesmente, os lixões inativos. Isto é talvez mais evidente na região carbonífera do Estado, já tão sacrificada pelos impactos ambientais da mineração do carvão. Este trabalho buscou realizar um levantamento dos lixões inativos na região carbonífera de Santa Catarina, analisando os riscos que estes representam à saúde pública e ao meio ambiente. Os resultados obtidos mostram que, dos onze municípios pertencentes à região carbonífera, nove possuem lixões inativos. Nesses nove municípios há onze lixões inativos, que, segundo a presente avaliação, apresentam grande risco à saúde da população e ao meio ambiente quando considerados os parâmetros analisados.

Abstract:
The existence of inactive dumps increases him considerably denominated like this "passive environmental"; so much that the final destination of the urban solid residues occupies primordial place in the line of the environmental subjects of the societies (Capelli1, 2002). In the State of Santa Catarina, it can be affirmed that, now, it is ignored the real state formally in that they are the "deposits of final destination" or, more simply, the inactive dumps. That is maybe more evident in the carboniferous area of the State, already so sacrificed by the environmental impacts of the mining of the coal. This work looked for to accomplish a rising of the inactive dumps in the carboniferous area of Santa Catarina, analyzing the risks that these act to the public health and the environment. The obtained results show that, of the eleven municipal districts belonging to the carboniferous area, nine possess inactive dumps. In those nine municipal districts there is eleven inactive dumps, that, second to present evaluation, they present great risk to the health of the population and the environment when considered the analyzed parameters.Key words: Solid residues, Inactive Dumps, Environmental Legislation, Remedy.
