Abstract:
The purpose was to estimate the prevalence and its associated factors to lowers levels leisure-time physical activity, insufficient consumption of fruits and vegetables, alcohol consumption and smoking in college students from public university from region Northeast, Brazil. A cross-sectional study was carried out among a sample, proportional and stratified to academic program, period of study, and year arrival at the university. The negative health-related behaviors were analyzed in relation socio-demographic and program affiliation indicators, through of Prevalence Ratio. The negative health-related behaviors more prevalent were insufficient consumption fruits (82.1%), vegetables (57%) and lowers levels leisure-time physical activity (54.1%). Higher prevalence of insufficient intake of fruit and alcohol consumption were observed in men; lowers levels leisure-time physical activity were observed in women, older, father with lower status educational and negative self-rated relationship with colleagues. The insufficient consumption vegetable was higher in men, younger, without partner, father with lower status educational and with three years academic exposition. The negative health-related behaviors more prevalent were fruits and vegetables consumption. The men had higher prevalence of risk behaviors.
