0400/2024 - Fiocruz no contexto da pandemia do Covid-19: experiência frente ao negacionismo científico Fiocruz in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic: experience facing scientific denialism
O presente artigo se expressa como uma opinião em relação ao comportamento da Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz), no contexto da pandemia do Covid-19, frente ao posicionamento negacionista do governo do ex-presidente Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022). Para tanto, esboça elementos da trajetória da instituição relacionando-a com a gestão pública, demonstrando iniciativas para estruturação da saúde pública no enfrentamento ao Covid-19 e ao negacionismo científico. No âmbito técnico, vide o aprofundamento de pesquisas sobre o Covid-19 e novos marcos institucionais de combate às pandemias tendo como referência a vacina Astrazeneca/Oxford/Fiocruz. E no âmbito social, vide a participação no debate público pró vacinação e mecanismos de prevenção tendo como referência projetos de integração da saúde pública nas favelas. Sabendo-se que, além desses exemplos, houve outras ações de forma variada envolvendo diferentes setores. Assim, dado este comportamento da Fiocruz, é possível avaliá-la como um componente institucional e social determinante no enfrentamento à pandemia do Covid-19 e ao negacionismo científico naquele trágico momento do Brasil. Sendo para a presente análise, fundamentada na sociologia do conhecimento, um comportamento gerador de novos significados nas ciências, na saúde e na gestão pública.

Abstract:
This article is expressed as an opinion regarding the behavior of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, in the face of the denialist position of the government of former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022). To this end, it outlines elements of the institution's trajectory, relating it to public management, demonstrating initiatives to structure public health in the face of Covid-19 and scientific denialism. In the technical field, see the in-depth research on Covid-19 and new institutional frameworks to combat pandemics using the Astrazeneca/Oxford/Fiocruz vaccine as a reference. And in the social sphere, see the participation in the public debate on vaccination and prevention mechanisms using public health integration projects in the favelas as a reference. Knowing that, in addition to these examples, there were other actions in a variety of ways involving different sectors. Thus, given this behavior of Fiocruz, it is possible to evaluate it as a determining institutional and social component in confronting the Covid-19 pandemic and scientific denialism at that tragic moment in Brazil. For this analysis, based on the sociology of knowledge, it is a behavior that generates new meanings in science, health and public management.
