The political-scientific challenges currently facing the social sciences, and more specifically the field of youth studies, warn of the need to revalue method in the production of science and in the mediation between concept and reality. Not the regulated and standardised method as understood by paradigms of a more positivist nature, but methodological possibilities that are sufficiently flexible, agile, creative and youthful to deal with the complexities of contemporary youth worlds. More than standardising the method used, validating the use of these methodological designs involves developing reflexive follow-up strategies that make research processes with young people transparent, particularly in terms of methodological reflexivity, positional reflexivity and ethical reflexivity. The latter must go beyond the application of the increasing legal and normative regulations that have entangled the production of science in bureaucratic webs, and place the researcher as a social being and his/her research practice as a relational practice, implying epistemic relations of co-labour with the participants in the studies.
Method, reflexivity and ethics in research processes with young people
