Abstract:

The arterial hypertension and the diabetes mellitus are among the most prevalent chronic diseases in Brazil. Because of this, in 2002 was created the Reorganization Plan of care to arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus. The study aimed to evaluate the socioeconomic profile and the therapeutic adherence of users registered in the HIPERDIA Program in Teresina city, state of Piauí. This research was developed in the Health Basic Units, where a questionnaire was applied to four hundred people evaluating their adherence through the testes of Batalla and Morisky – Green. The Socioeconomic profile of interviewees was as follows: seniors citizens, women, married with 1 to 4 years of study, retirees and salaried employees and the most of them are hypertensive. Only 22,50% of hypertensive and 30,70% of diabetics were considered adherents according to Batalla and all of them only 26,75% were, according to Morisk – Green. There was no association between sociodemographic and clinical variables and the adherence according to Morisky – Green, however there was an association with the type of morbidity presented. In front of these results, the Health Education becomes the main strategy to improve adherence of users as well as the participation of professionals in the Family Health Team, as the: Pharmacist, Nutritionist and Physical educator.
