Abstract:

This article analyses the continuity of time series indicators generatedthe health supplements of PNADs 1998, 2003, 2008 andthe National Health Research (PNS 2013). Indicators of health needs, access and use of health services, and sources of payment were calculatedthe questions that sought the same information in different surveys. Despite improvements in access to and use of health services in all regions, there are significant regional differences in all dimensions analyzed when looking at datathe North and Northeast regions relative to the other: worst assessment of health status, greater restriction activities, and less use of health services, in spite of increased coverage by public programs. The evolution in the payment source of care provided in the last two weeks shows that the Brazilian population is using more services through the SUS, as well as more attention by health plan and performing lower out of pocket payment. It is important to note that the participation of SUS increased in the richest regions and that the health plan increases increased in a significant way only in the Midwest.
