0003/2025 - Atenção primária à saúde nas pesquisas de base domiciliar do IBGE: limites e possibilidades Primary Health Care in IBGE's Household Surveys: Limits and Possibilities

Abstract:
This article deals with the contribution of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) household surveys to the monitoring of primary health care (PHC) in Brazil. PHC, a fundamental component of the Unified Health System (SUS), requires constant monitoring to ensure the quality and effectiveness of services. The IBGE, through surveys such as the Demographic Census, the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD), the National Health Survey (PNS) and the National Demographic and Health Survey (PNDS), collects essential data on the Brazilian population, including relevant information on health conditions and access to and use of PHC services. The inclusion of specific modules on PHC in these surveys, using instruments such as the Primary Care Assessment Tool (PCATool) and the Net Promoter Score (NPS), makes it possible to obtain reliable indicators for evaluating PHC. The partnership between the IBGE and the Ministry of Health guarantees the production of strategic information for the planning and management of the SUS, contributing to the formulation of effective public policies and improving the health of the Brazilian population, comparing all 27 units of the country's federation.
