0201/2019 - Educação popular, promoção da saúde e envelhecimento ativo: Uma revisão bibliográfica integrativa. Popular education, health promotion and active ageing: An integrative literature review.

Abstract:
The ageing population is a worldwide phenomenon which requires actions for the wellbeing and to prevent illnesses and unnecessary hospital admissions. The objective of this paper was to identify health education and health promotion activities envisaged to promote an active ageing. This is an integrative literature review study in which the search of the articles was conducted for the period of 2005 to August 2018, using the electronic databases Lilacs, and Medline and the virtual libraries SciELO and BVS in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Initially 2069 articles were found and 33 were ed after using the inclusion criteria. The analysis, showed that all the actions seems to promote healthy habits and the participation of the elderly, characterizing them as actions that promote active aging. However, most of them were developed only with older people, which may lead to an age segregation. They also considered the ageing process as a matter of older people and not as a process during life span. Although important such activities, only eleven were evaluated. It suggests that evaluation of activities of health education and promotion is not yet grounded in the intervention protocols to show effectiveness and to favor replication else.
