Abstract:
The National School Feeding Program guarantees, through the transfer of financial resources, the feeding of students in public and philanthropic schools. In adolescence, good nutrition is influenced by the rates of physical growth and changes in body composition, being an important period of nutritional vulnerability. The objective was to analyze the adequacy of macro and micronutrients offered to adolescentspublic full-time schools in northeastern Brazil. The menus were evaluated using the parameters to meet 70% of the daily nutritional needs of macronutrients and micronutrients of the beneficiary students. It is noted that, in most age groups, energy needs were not met, reaching the maximum adequacy percentage of 86.2%. Proteins were adjusted in four days only. The average value of carbohydrates and lipids was below the recommended for all age groups. The levels of Vitamin C, Zinc and Calcium were below in most of the preparations offered. The amount of iron was reached in all age groups. It is concluded that there must be a better planning in the elaboration of the menus to try to reach the needs foreseen by the Program.
