Maria del Mar González Rodríguez é psicóloga e foi uma das pioneiras nos estudos sobre a homoparentalidade na Espanha. Suas pesquisas, a partir dos anos 2000, tiveram um papel relevante no debate parlamentar no país, que culminou com a aprovação do casamento homossexual, em 2013. A Espanha, um país de maioria católica, que havia deixado a ditadura franquista duas décadas antes, foi o terceiro país no mundo, depois de Suécia e Dinamarca a reconhecer o direito de união da população homossexual. Seus estudos versam sobre famílias não convencionais, diversidade familiar, desenvolvimento infantil e familiar e sua relação com educação e saúde. Nossa conversa tratou do tema da homoparentalidade, do estabelecimento dos direitos de filiação para esse grupo social, dos estudos sobre estas configurações familiares e as principais implicações da homoparentalidade para a saúde.

Maria del Mar González Rodríguez is a psychologist who was one of the pioneers in studies on homoparenthood in Spain. Her research,the 2000s onwards, played an essential role in the parliamentary debate in the country, which culminated in the approval of homosexual marriage in 2013. Spain, a Catholic-majority country that had left the Franco dictatorship two decades earlier, was the third country in the world, after Sweden and Denmark, to recognize the right of homosexuals to unite.
