Objetivou compreender os sentidos das relações intergeracionais de adolescentes perante o convívio com a pessoa idosa. Estudo qualitativo em seis escolas do ensino fundamental, da rede municipal de Fortaleza, Ceará, Brasil. Participaram 27 adolescentes matriculados do 5º ao 9º ano de escolaridade. A coleta de dados ocorreu de maio a setembro de 2022, usando uma entrevista semiestruturada. Os dados foram organizados com o sustentáculo da Análise de Conteúdo e examinados com base no Interacionismo Simbólico. Os significados emergentes ressaltam no respeito, cuidado, tratar bem, ofertar amor, carinho e generosidade. O sentido da reciprocidade no tratamento entre a pessoa idosa e o adolescente também foi mencionado. Evidencia-se que os adolescentes estão conscientes para agirem em prol da pessoa idosas, incentivando-os e orientando-os a elegerem uma alimentação saudável, a manterem-se bem hidratados, a praticarem atividade física e a viverem em paz. O estudo traz a compreensão sobre a relação intergeracional oferecendo subsídios para uma reflexão sobre o fenómeno, conducente à promoção, valorização e incremento das relações intergeracionais na contemporaneidade.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to understand the meanings of intergenerational relationships between adolescents and their interactions with elderly people. This was a qualitative study conducted in six elementary schools in the municipal network of Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Twenty-seven adolescents enrolled in grades 5 to 9 participated. Data collection took placeMay to September 2022, using a semi-structured interview. The data were organized using Content Analysis and examined based on Symbolic Interactionism. The emerging meanings emphasize respect, care, treating well, offering love, affection, and generosity. The sense of reciprocity in the treatment between the elderly person and the adolescent was also mentioned. It is evident that adolescents are aware of the need to act in favor of the elderly, encouraging and guiding them to choose a healthy diet, to stay well hydrated, to practice physical activity, and to live in peace. The study provides an understanding of intergenerational relationships, offering support for reflection on the phenomenon, leading to the promotion, appreciation and increase of intergenerational relationships in contemporary times.
