0007/2025 - Tradução e adaptação transcultural da Escala de Atitudes em Relação às Pessoas com Obesidade (ATOP-BR) Translation and cross-cultural adaptation of Attitudes Toward Obese Persons Scale
OBJETIVO: Traduzir e adaptar a Attitudes Toward Obese Persons Scale para o contexto sociocultural brasileiro, nomeada como Escala de Atitudes em Relação às Pessoas com Obesidade (ATOP-BR). MÉTODOS: Trata-se de um estudo metodológico realizado em seis etapas: 1) tradução, por dois tradutores independentes; 2) síntese das traduções; 3) retrotradução, por dois tradutores nativos; 4) avaliação do comitê de especialistas para avaliar a equivalência entre a escala original e a versão em português, que também contribuiu para assegurar que o instrumento tivesse uma linguagem anti-estigmatizante; 5) validação de conteúdo contou com a aplicação do método Delphi, conduzido por um painel de especialistas; e 6) teste da versão pré-final. RESULTADOS: Os itens da ATOP, versão original do instrumento, para a versão em língua portuguesa, ATOP-BR, alcançou adequado grau de equivalência semântica, idiomática, cultural e conceitual. E na etapa de teste da versão pré-final, o instrumento se mostrou de fácil compreensão. DISCUSSÃO: O instrumento ATOP-BR foi traduzido e adaptado para a população brasileira de forma satisfatória, além disso, mostrou ser de fácil compreensão e atendeu aos objetivos de avaliação e tem potencial para ser utilizado em pesquisas sobre o estigma da obesidade na população brasileira.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVE: To translate and adapt the Attitudes Toward Obese Persons Scale, into the Brazilian socio-cultural context, named Escala de Atitudes em Relação às Pessoas com Obesidade (ATOP-BR). METHODS: This is a methodological study conducted in six steps: 1) translation by two independent translators; 2) synthesis of translations; 3) retrotraduction, by two native translators; 4) Specialist Committee to evaluate the equivalence between the original scale and the Portuguese version, which also contributed to ensuring that the instrument had an anti-stigmatizing language; 5) content validation had the application of the Delphi method, which was conducted by a panel of experts; 6) test of the pre-final version. RESULTS: The items of ATOPthe original version of the instrument to the Portuguese language version, ATOP-BR, reached an adequate degree of semantic, idiom, cultural, and conceptual equivalence. At the test stage of the pre-final version, the instrument was easy to understand. DISCUSSION: The ATOP-BR scale is a satisfactorily translated and adapted instrument, with potential for application in research concerning weight stigma in the Brazilian population.
