Abstract:

Violence against women is characterized by symbolic domination male based on patriarchy, expressing gender inequality in society. The objective of this study is to analyze the notification of interpersonal violence in cisgender and transgender women, aged 20 to 59 years, in Brazilian municipalities,2015 to 2021. This is a repeated panel study, using datathe information system, and temporal trend analysis by the Prais-Winsten method. A total of 605,983 notifications were eligible, 1.8% of which were transgender women. Notifications were registered in 84.8% of the municipalities for cisgender women and 31.7% for transgender women. There was predominance in younger women (71.9%) and black (55.3%), proportionally higher among transgender women (p < 0.001). Most notifications were of physical violence (84.8%); followed by psychological violence (40.1%), which was higher among cisgender women (p < 0.001) and with reduction in the period for transgender women (β = -0.71; p = 0.005). The notification of violence still does not reflect reality, particularly for transgender women. The psychological violence, however, which is usually the beginning of the cycle of aggression, already ranks second among notifications in the country, despite the setbacks experienced in recent years.
