0038/2014 - Prevalência do consumo moderado e excessivo de álcool e fatores associados entre residentes de Comunidades Quilombolas de Vitória da Conquista, Bahia Prevalence of moderate and excessive alcohol consumption and related factors among residents of Quilombo

The Alcohol consumption was classified into abstention, moderate and heavy and was modeled through multinomial regression model. Consumption was observed among 41.5% of participants (95% CI [37.8, 44.98]); being identified in the category excessive consumption and moderate consumption category in 10.7% and 30.8% respectively. Moderate consumption was inversely associated with age and is more common among whites and browns, more educated, and those in work activity among smokers. High consumption increased with level of education, being more prevalent among those who had at least 8 years of study, smokers and those who were in labor activity. The study shows that in these communities there are differences in the sociodemographic characteristics among the profiles of alcohol drinkers and these differences should be taken into account when drawing up proposals for the promotion of healthy habits.
