Abstract:

This article presents a brief review on the meaning of technical cooperation within the United Nations, underscoring the political dimension, i.e. the relationship among States. It also emphasizes the importance of health in this context, using as a reference the Americas and Brazil. It illustrates the new paradigm called South-South cooperation through an experience in the health field, stressing the triangulation of an intergovernmental agency. In conclusion, it summarizes the arguments that place a particular process of international cooperation within the framework of this paradigm.
