Abstract:

This paper objective was to identify the set of circumstances that contribute to the formation of an involvement pattern among the adults in traffic accidents. Cross sectional descriptive study, utilizing secondary data. The patterns are identified through a group analysis by employing a method knows as Ascending Hierarchical Classification. Five classes were identified. Three of which involved men that sustained light injury, accidents between vehicles or vehicle-object crashes, crashes that happened during the day, on dry road conditions. The others, involved women with serious injury during the night and had less usage of the seat belt. The findings of this study, especially in regards to traffic accidents involving female drivers, draws attention and points to new studies involving theses drivers, every time more present in traffic.
