Abstract:

This article analyzes the users‘ understanding about the Psychosocial Care Centers on mental health care, focusing on integrality and access. A qualitative study with theoretical and methodological references of the Fourth Generation Evaluation and the application of the Hermeneutic Dialectic Circle technique. Twelve users of ten mental health services in Fortaleza were interviewed from March to May 2011. The themes of the study were gathered from the narratives, having as referencing analysis the hermeneutics of Paul Ricoeur. The thematic categories worked were the following: mental health care understanding; broken times: conflicts between vacancies and subjective needs to receive; similarities and differences: between the authority and autonomy; absence and belonging: open Psychosocial Care Centers and non-community centers; between the stigma and humanization. The main findings are: the Psychosocial Care Centers are seen as conviviality spaces able to establish affective and social networks; stigma, prejudice and tutelage are present at the services, their families and the community; hospice practices persist in replacement services; the humanization of care extends the access and the link to the services; the trajectory of the Unified Health Center users occurs due to their social and health needs.
