Abstract:

It is proposed to identify the prevalence of access to information about how to prevent oral problems among school children in public schools, as well as the factors associated with this access. This is a cross-sectional study, conducted between analytical school 12 years olda small town and municipality population large. The examinations were performed by 24 dentists trained and calibrated with the aid of 24 annotators. Data collection occurred in 36 public schools drawn89 public schools of the city. Descriptive analyses were conducted and multiple (OR/IC95%). The school included 2510, 2211 (88.1%) reported having received information about how to prevent oral problems. Access to such information was greater among those who used private dental services; and lowest among those who used the service for treatment, which evaluated the service as regular or bad and terrible, that use as a means of oral hygiene tooth brush only or tooth brush and makes the language and who reported not being satisfied with the appearance of their teeth. It is concluded that the majority of schoolchildren had access to information about how to prevent oral problems, being the access associated with the characteristics of health services, health outcomes and behaviors.
