Abstract:

The demand and use of health services resulting from a range of determinants that include socioeconomic, demographic and health caracteristics and organization of the supply of services. Objective: To characterize the accessibility and use of health services in two Family Health Units (USF) of the Sanitary District of Liberdade (DSL), characterizing the pattern of utilization and identifying factors related to socio-organizational and geographical accessibility. Methods: Cross sectional population-based people aged between 20 and 75 years, residents of the area covered by two USF. The accessibility to health services was analyzed according to demand, from the socio-organizational and geographic and use for medical appointments at USF. Results: Over 50% of respondents sought the service of USFs and of these 78.7% reported having used the query. Regarding the organizational accessibility problems were found as long waiting time for consultation. Discussion: Geographical barriers were encountered in the use of USF, but these did not prevent the realization of medical consultation. The use of the USF was higher among people with lower socioeconomic status.
