Abstract:

The increase of plastic surgeries in Brazil and the growth of the beauty industry, the concerns of the body and its transformation make part of a wider process of medication and aestheticism of the health. According to the Brazilian association of plastic surgery in the last years there were a substantial number of plastic surgeries in Brazil. Just in 2001, 350 thousands aesthetic surgeries were made in the country. Our job researched the meaning and value construction, the utilization of the aesthetic parameters in this construction and how those meanings are suitable and treated by those who work in the body transformation process, the plastic surgeons. In order to see how it worked an analysis of the announcements and of the speeches provided by the Brazilian association of plastic surgery website had been done, the association runs the field and is responsible for forming professionals and supervision the sector. The analysis has been done from the official website page in the date of 26/09/2005.
