Abstract:

Within the various ways to use the biographical approach, we adopted as research material the curriculum vitae (CV) of Brazilian researchers who act as social scientists health. These are part of the CV Lattes CNPq - National Council for Scientific and Technological Development, which includes the Directories Research and Institutions. Were studied 238 CVs. The CV contains, among others, the following information: professional training, activities and projects, academic research, participation in evaluation of thesis and dissertations, centers and research laboratories and, small “autobiography”. In this work there are a brief review of the importance of auto/biography for the social sciences, emphasizing the CV as a form of "autobiographical practice." We highlight some results: group formed predominantly by women, undergraduate in social sciences, anthropology, sociology or political science, with graduate degree; highest concentration of social scientists in the Brazilian South and Southeast regions, and in some institutions; the main social scientist activities are as teachers and researchers; great thematic diversity in research.
