Abstract:

This study evaluated the use and the access to different services involved in the care of patients with hypertension in the Public Health System in the municipality of São Paulo, Brazil. This is an ecological study that addressed magnitude, trend and relations of production outpatient procedures linked to the type of care to the hypertension. The data sources were the SIA/SUS and the Estabsus from the Municipal Secretary of Health. For data processing was used a PostgreSQL relational database linking the different information according to the indicators chosen and analyzed territories. To the statistical analyzes was used the R program with the trends of significance analysis of the historical series of indicators defined and the relationships between them. During the period under study there were important changes in the care model in São Paulo with the general trend of reducing basic medical consultations and increased procedures specialized in cardiology. The production procedures show to be heterogeneous in the different regional coordinators in the city. The study shows the potential use of databases from the Public Health System and allows the identification of differences in access, coverage and disparities in the use of high complexity in health care procedures.
