This study aimed to verify the association among the attributes of the primary health care (PHC) and the professional qualification of promoted by the Residence of Medicine of physicians and nurses. For data collection the Primary Care Assessment Tool (PCA-Tool), child version was used. The instrument was applied to the caregivers of children resident and registered in cadastre of the coverage areas of the family health teams. The attributes of the PHC had been evaluated through the scores measured by the answers of the caregivers. After bivariate analysis, searching association between the degree of orientation for the PHC and the socioeconomic and demographic characteristics, as well as the professional characteristics and of the health units, a model of regression of Poisson was adjusted. The teams where there were professionals with residence in family health or medicine of family and community presented better scores than the other, where the professionals do not possess this qualification. The authors pointed out that specialization as residence in medicine of family and community for physicians and residence of health family for nurses present potentialities for the transformation of the care model, from the attributes of the PHC.Key words: Primary Health Care.
