Abstract:

This study aimed to evaluate the association between quality of fill of Child Health Record (CHR) and the type of service used to monitor the health of children. Cross-sectional study with a sample of children aged 3 to 5 years selected on the Day of Child Vaccination Campaign 2014. The sample was stratified and proportional to the nine Health Districts of Belo Horizonte. Data were collected through interviews with parents and observation of 21 items of CHR. The dependent variable was defined by quality of fill (satisfactory / unsatisfactory) and satisfactory filling was defined with > 60%. The independent variables were the type of service for the child health monitoring, demographic and health conditions of the mother and child, and the health care for the child. 367 (96.10%) parents participated. The prevalence of poor filling was 55.5%. There was no significant association between quality of fill and type of health service. The unsatisfactory filling was associated with gestational age <37 weeks, lack of access to information about the CHR and lack of parental notes at CHR. CHR has been unsatisfactorily employed as a health-monitoring tool regardless of the type of service used by the child.
