Abstract:

The purpose of this systematic review was to identify the tools created or adapted to assess the
Non-suicidal self-injury in adolescents. PRISMA declaration was used. Two independent
reviewers analyzed the psychometric properties of the tools published in English or Spanish
from 1990-2016 considering standardized quality criteria. The databases used were PsycINFO,
PubMed, ISI Web of Knowledge, Scopus, SciELO, ScienceDirect and EBSCO. Eighteen
studies were ed, which created or adapted eleven tools. Most of them were developed in
The United States and Canada, none in Latin America. Several studies do not show evidence of
the psychometric properties of the tools. Seven out of the eighteen studies got at least one
positive rating. ABUSI and ISSIQ-A got the largest quantity of positive rankings. The
limitations of this study were that the search was performed in seven databases and only in the
English and Spanish languages. Improving the report of the psychometric properties of the non-
suicidal self-injury tools in adolescents is suggested and also developing adjustments for Latin
America countries that allow making international comparisons. Registration number
