Abstract:

The burnout is characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and low personal accomplishment, which may occur between health professionals. This article evaluates burnout among workers in Primary Health Care (PHC) in three small towns in the Zona da Mata Mineira. The study analyses associations by logistic regression between burnout, socioeconomic, and demographic aspects of the work. A total of 149 professionals were selected, 107 of these responded to all questionnaires. To measure the burnout was used Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and to characterize the professional was used a questionnaire in three different issues: individual aspects, sociodemographic and area coverage team. Were classified 101 professionals with positive indication for burnout (41,6%). The variables present in the backward stepwise logistic regression model positively associated with indicative of burnout were: being younger than the population median (> 29.5 years) and use of drugs "sedatives, tranquilizers and sleeping pills". The results help to identify factors associated with burnout and point in this sense the need for more detailed investigations.
