Abstract:

The Burnout Syndrome (SB) is caused by chronic emotional stress experienced by the worker, characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and low personal accomplishment. It can affect professionals which jobs required direct contact with the public. Objective was to evaluate the prevalence of SB and associated factors in graduate professionals involved in the Team of Primary Health in the city of Aracaju - SE. These professionals have answered the socio-demographic questionnaire and the Maslach Inventory for Burnout. The mean age was 44.9 years, most nurses, women, married with children and graduate. The prevalence of SB was 6.7% to 10.8 %; associated factors were younger age, excessive working hours and job dissatisfaction. There was no difference between evaluated categories and the majority does not exhibit SB. However, 54.1 % had a high and moderate risk for developing this syndrome, reflecting a process of illness that threatens the welfare of the graduate Team of Primary Health Aracaju - SE. These findings suggest the importance of implementing preventive and interventional measures directed to these professionals, to ensure an improvement in the workplace.
