Abstract:

The quality of healthcare physical spaces is essential to ensure well-being, safety, and productivity, while also promoting sustainable practices through rational cost management. This study examines the quality and performance of the building housing the Carioca Super Centre of Vaccination (CSCV), rehabilitated as a management strategy within primary health care in Rio de Janeiro. An experimental approach with a multi-parameter model was adopted, involving on-site inspections and documentary analyses, considering degradation, cultural significance, and estimated lifespan. The model resulted in a Quality and Performance Indicator (QPI), based on the guidelines of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and the Unified Health System (SUS), with an emphasis on heritage conservation. The results indicate that the CSCV has high cultural significance and satisfactory performance, with a QPI of 83.25%, placing it in the "B" range for quality and performance, suggesting that the unit is close to excellence standards. The research reinforces the importance of heritage preservation to strengthen the SUS, fostering safe, functional, and culturally significant environments.
