Abstract:

The objective was to identify factors associated with child health care in Primary Health Care (APS),the perspective of actions advocated by the Care Network for People with Disabilities (RCPCD), regarding the early identification of impairments and monitoring of child development. This is a cross-sectional, multicenter study carried out in eight Brazilian states. Data collection involved the application of a structured questionnaire with gradueted health professionals working in APS, with a random sample stratified by state and municipality. Poisson regressions with robust variance were performed for two response variables. Among the 1,488 workers who made up the final sample, 63.6% carry out actions for the early identification of impairments and 49% follow up on child development. The Family Health Teams (eSF) identify and monitor more than the traditional model teams, and the Expanded Family Health Teams perform more follow-up actions than these teams. It is concluded that the factors most associated with the identification and monitoring of children with impairments in APS were those related to professional training, eSF and knowledge of regulations related to the RCPCD.
