Abstract:

Knowing the food environment to which the families benefitingthe Bolsa Familia Program (PBF) are exposed is necessary to identify exposure to environments that favor worse food choices. This work aimed to characterize the community food environment of the urban area of the municipality of Ouro Preto and the surroundings of the homes of families who are beneficiaries of the PBF. The ecological study, conducted with datathe Single Registry System and the State Treasury Department, both2014, andthe 2010 Census. Spatial analyses were conducted to evaluate the agglomerations of beneficiary families and establishments. The census sectors (SC) peripheral and with lower per capita income had little or no establishment for food sales, as well as a greater agglomeration of PBF beneficiary families, which are closer to establishments considered unhealthy (median: 65.73 meters). There was a higher concentration of food sales establishments, mainly unhealthy, in the central SC and higher per capita income (59.2%). Given the above, it becomes important to dialogue with other public policies related to nutrition, aiming at reducing inequities and contributing to improve physical access to healthy food sales establishments.
