Abstract:

This research aimed to identify the actions developed by the Health Community Agent-HCA bound to the family health from Montes Claros, MG, Brazil. The research has been made under the Health Work Educational Program-PET-SAÚDE. This is a quantitative study and census. An amount of 241 HCA have been interviewed. Most performs family registration, home visits, identifies families that present health risk and informs the health team, guides families about available health services, referrals and books consultations/exams, performs health education and teamwork reflections. A fraction (33.6%) assist on the clinical environment. By associating the HCA activities with the condition of being trained for its functions, both the referrals as the health education have been associated (p=0,047). The majority who provide Health Education and those who are responsible for the referrals feel that they are prepared for such tasks (p<0,05). The HCA is a core element of health actions, taking the role of an articulator between users and health professionals. However, the dimensions of performance require investment in appropriate professional instumentalização and maintaining the quality of the work executed by him in surveillance activities and reflection on team. Thus, the HCA will assume responsibility with Primary care, integrating the system of healthcare administration.
