Abstract:

Introductory comment on historical contexts, institutional impasses and curriculum challenges for training Public Health workers in Brazil. Firstly, a thesis is proposed: the Brazilian state has not fulfilled its responsibility to ensure the population quality public services, with access and equity, shaping "the four perversions of Brazilian education." Secondly, it analyzes the public health system, in thesis universal, but underfunded and needs recognized, that contributes to increasing social exclusion. Finally, it highlights the need for new models of training people who are technologically competent, able for teamwork, creative, autonomous, problem-solving, engaged in health promotion, open to social participation, committed to the humanization of health.
