Abstract:

The study aimed at analyzing the concept and principles of Continuing Health Education(EPS) contained in the PNEPS in Brazil. The methodology was based on the analysis of documents from the Ministry of Health and scientific articles related. It was found that the concept of EPS in the PNEPS goes beyond a pedagogical sense and responds to a service restructuring process in the face of new demands from the Toyota-type production model of neoliberal and post-modern times. Precisely at the time in which jobs are increasingly unstable and precarious, the Ministry of Health engages in discourse regarding innovative management, focusing on the issue of EPS. The idea is not one of continuing education, but of continuing management. Rather than being an instrument for radical transformation, EPS becomes an attractive ideology due to its appearance as a pedagogical novelty.
