Abstract:

This study aimed to know the facilitating and inhibiting factors and strategies used by 28 Brazilian large cities in conducting Continuous Education in Feeding and Nutrition in the Family Health Strategy. We conducted a qualitative study of multiples cases. The technique of data collection was the interview and the subjects were municipal of the area of feeding and nutrition,the five regions of the country. The study was conducted between 2009 and 2010. The data was processed using the software NVivo 10 and Content Analysis guided by thematic categories. We interviewed 44 professionals, of whom 19 were nutritionists. Most cities werethe Northeast and Southeast, 14 were capitals, 7 metropolises and 14 had the Family Health Strategy Support. The most cited facilitating factors for Continuous Education in Nutrition were partnerships and resource availability. The most frequent inhibiting factors were the difficulty of schedules and lack of professionals in the nutrition management. The most used strategies were conducting trainingthe local level, by groups and planning and programming. We conclude that larger investments are needed for Continuous Education in Feeding and Nutrition be made.
