Abstract: A literature review on the theme of violence and health published in the journal Ciência&SaúdeColetiva/C&SC,1996 to 2019,was performed. The search also included two national journals (Cadernos de SaúdePública/CSP and Revista de SaúdePública/RSP) and two international ones (American Journal of Public Health/AJPH and Pan American Journal of Public Health/PAJPH), totaling 1,179 articles. The analysis added the collection of each journal in eleven themes, according to conceptual affinity. For C&SC articles, variables were analyzed such as:year of publication, area of knowledge, region of the institution, scope of the study, method used and target population. The analysis identified that the journal gave visibility to the theme, standing outthe other journals since 2009. External causes, children and adolescents, quantitative studies, with municipal and national scope and institutions located in the Southeast region prevailed. There are gaps in relevant topics such as self-mutilation, vulnerable populations, among others, on which studies and publications should be encouraged.

Resumo: Realizou-se uma revisão da literatura sobre a temática violência e saúde publicada na revista Ciência &Saúde Coletiva/C&SC, no período de 1996 a 2019. A busca também incluiu dois periódicos nacionais (Cadernos de Saúde Pública/CSP e Revista de Saúde Pública/RSP) e dois internacionais (American JournalofPublic Health/AJPHe Pan American JournalofPublic Health/PAJPH), totalizando 1.179 artigos localizados. A análise agregou oacervo de cada periódico em onze temas, segundo afinidade conceitual. Para os artigos da C&SC foram analisadas variáveis como: ano da publicação, área do conhecimento, região da instituição, abrangência do estudo, método empregado e população alvo.A análise identificouque a revista deu visibilidade à temática, destacando-se dos demais periódicos a partir de 2009. Causas externas, grupo de crianças e adolescentes, estudos quantitativos, com abrangência municipal e nacional e instituições localizadas na região Sudeste preponderaram. Há lacunas de temasrelevantes como automutilação, populações vulneráveis, entre outros, sobre os quais se deveriamincentivar estudos e publicações.
