Abstract:

The work-related diseases, of either physical or psychological causes, have been growing in nowadays´society, in the different work sectors, with significant projection on health professionals, such as doctors, dentists, nurses, auxiliary nurses, and administrative assistants in the Health Basic Units. This study aimed to know the amount of work and its determinant factors, trying to identify possible relations between the working conditions and its possible impact on the workers´ health. Took part in the sampling, 31 individuals: 12 doctors, 03 dentists, 01 nurse, 09 Auxiliary Nurses, 03 dental assistants, 03 business assistants at a BHU (Basic Health Unit, in a city in the countryside of the State of São Paulo. For the data collection, a structured interview script was elaborated through meetings with the specific groups of workers, so that a detailed description of the activities performed by each group could be done, as well as a survey of the issues and desirable features. The results indicated the presence of physical, cognitive and psychological workload; inadequate communication process; obsolete equipment; excessive number of users and a weak structure to deal with the absenteeism.
